Bloomsbury Children’s Books has secured the rights to publish Shero, the debut middle-grade graphic novel series from artist and director Lee Lennox. The acquisition, made at auction, covers world rights to three books in the series. Senior Commissioning Editor Eleanor Willis acquired the series from Rachel Petty at The Blair Partnership, with Bloomsbury USA also joining in the co-publication effort.
“Shero” introduces readers to Flea, a bold and resourceful young heroine who embarks on a magical adventure with her grumpy but lovable wolf sidekick, Rara. The series’ first installment follows Flea as she battles evil curses, discovers her magical abilities, and uncovers long-buried family secrets. Bloomsbury describes the series as an exciting blend of fantasy and humor, ideal for fans of Nimona and Hilda.
The first book, Shero, is slated for release in September 2026. The second and third books will follow at six-month intervals.
Willis highlighted that the series aligns with Bloomsbury’s commitment to publishing engaging and accessible stories for young readers. “Lee Lennox is a true talent,” she said. “I immediately fell in love with Flea and her quest for glory and waffles when the submission arrived. Shero is sharp, hilarious, and dynamic—a perfect addition to our young readers’ catalog.”
Lennox, who holds a master’s degree in film and animation from the University of Wales, has an extensive background in directing commercials, short films, and music videos. His animation credits include work for Nickelodeon, Disney, and Warner Bros. Lennox shared that the Shero series is inspired by the strong women in his life. He expressed his excitement about collaborating with Bloomsbury, saying, “I can’t wait to embark on this wild adventure with them.”
